Political activity

in 1947 enters the National Resistance Movement (MNR) ;
arrested in September 1948, investigated by the Securitate, the Prosecutor's Office, and the NKVD;
in June 1949 sentenced to 15 years of hard labour for the crime of "plotting against the social order" ;
in 1963 released from prison;
until 1965 is not given the right to work or to an ID card;
January 1990 founder member of the Association of the Former Political Prisoners;
February-May 1990 member of the Executive Bureau of the CPUN ;
member of the PRM

Parliamentary activity

in 1990 founder member of the first Parliament of Romania;
1990 -1992 deputy;
vicepresident of the Chamber of Deputies;
in 1990 founder member and president of the Committee for the Investigation of Abuses and Corruption;
since 2000 president of the Committee for the Investigation of Abuses and Corruption, and for Petitions, of the Chamber of Deputies;

1975 -1989 archaeologist at the Museum of History and Arts of Bucharest Municipality;
archaeological excavations at Putna, Mihailesti, Vacaresti, Coltea, etc.;
draws up, secretly, along with Daniel Barbu and Octavian Roske, the studies The Condition of the Monument under the Communist Regime and Will Bucharest Survive Until 1984?, broadcast on Radio Free Europe in 1981 and 1985;
initiator of the series film "The Memorial of Pain", along with Octavian Roske;
1993 founder director of the National Institute for the Study of Totalitarianism;
editor and founder member of the "Arhivele totalitarismului" magazine;
in 1990 nominated for the office of corresponding member of the Romanian Academy
